aoi, 38.
aoi is the one on the left, wearing a kimono.
she considers herself modern and very up to date to all things you need to be up to date— to consider yourself modern.
but she can’t see herself not wearing a kimono.
while there are japanese women who still wear a kimono, most will only wear one for very special occasions.
but, because of a photo— she feel she can only wear the kimono.
a photo and a name.
you see, aoi was also her great grandmother’s name.
and, the only keepsake she has of her late great grandmother is a photo of her. and on that faded old photo, she is dressed with the most beautiful kimono. with flowery patterns, of orange, black and red.
just like the one she is wearing now.
