souta just missed the train home.

and because of that—
he will miss his ride from the station.
he will miss dinner.
he will miss the weekly video call with his daughter who is living in brazil.

right now, souta is thinking if he should text home saying he missed the train— or— say he will need to work late tonight— and head up to drink a couple of highballs by himself.
